If you know me well, you know that Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday (cue the mentally unstable memes).
I love the movies, the decor, the costumes– it’s all so fun and festive. That being said, I think there’s a right and wrong way to do Halloween. I actually really despise the tacky, orange and purple, plastic decorations. And don’t even get me started on the inflatable yard creatures (barf). Instead, I like to creep things (see what I did there?) neutral and mix them in with my regular, year-around accents. I only buy black, white, silver or gold Halloween decorations, and gravitate towards skulls, skeletons, bats and crows. It’s a vibe, ya know?
Over the years I’ve accumulated quite the collection of Halloween decor– some of which has been lost in moves, broken, or tossed out like last year’s candy corn. And every year I am determined to buy more. My favorite places to shop for Halloween knick-knacks are Michaels, Homegoods and the Dollar Tree. I hate to spend a fortune on seasonal pieces, so I take advantage of Homegoods’ deals, buy cheap DIY bits from the Dollar Tree (like plastic skeleton hands that I can spray paint gold) and wait until Michael’s Halloween section goes on sale, as it always does.
If you’re like me, and love the goblins, goblets and ghouls, I’ve linked some of my favorite (tasteful) decor below.
