These are the golden days. The last moments before a fresh year, where new possibilities lie on the horizon. I have always loved New Year’s Eve. Not for the champagne and glitter, but because it represents the beginning of something new— new chances, new dreams and new feels. It’s a breath of fresh air in the simplest sense. And of course, the champagne and glitter don’t hurt.
In a way, I think the glitter and glam actually symbolize something new, bright and shiny. A reminder that the days ahead are golden and gleaming with an unfamiliar hope. A golden state of mind, if you will.
So of course, it only seems fitting to kick-off 2018 in something gold.
Generally speaking, I don’t like the glitz and glam. I can do without rhinestones, sparkles and sequins 364 days out of the year. But, on NYE, I’m really in to it.
I love this black and gold velvet, Show Me Your Mumu jumpsuit from Bohemian Groove on the Move because it’s equal parts comfy and chic AF. With the wide-leg pants and stretchy material, I can overindulge one last time in 2017 without looking like a sausage in sequins. And on the same coin, the deep v neckline and golden, glitter finish make me feel like a freakin’ star. The best of both worlds, am I right?
This year, we’re keeping it chill, so I paired my jumpsuit with some pointy, block-heeled booties, a black shaggy coat, lots of layered, dainty gold chains and a smokey eye. For a fancier look, I would wear ankle strap heels and a bold lip. Regardless, you really can’t go wrong with this little number.
Cheers, to a shiny and bright new year!
