Until recently, I was a basic face wash and moisturizer kinda girl. With the exception of the occasional sheet masks, I didn’t put a whole lot of thought in to my nightly beauty routine. I’d wash my face in the shower and slap on some moisturizer before hopping in to bed, and voila, I was done.
As I mentioned in a previous post, blogging has really opened my eyes to the plethora of products out there for simple skin care, anti-aging remedies, and easy beauty hacks. I realized I should, and could, be doing more to take care of myself, especially now that I am pushing my late-twenties (yikes).
Little by little, I have been adding steps to my nightly beauty regime, and so far, I’m really diggin’ these products.
First, I wash my face with Purity by Philosophy. I have been using this face wash for a few years now and I really like it. It’s gentle enough to wash off any lingering eye make-up, but leaves my face fresh and clean. If I’m feeling extra ambitious, I’ll follow-up with a little exfoliating with Frank Body Coconut Coffee Scrub.
Once or twice a week, I’ll lather on the Mermaid Mask from Leahlani Skincare. This mask really feeds my skin, all while calming it down. I can’t say enough good things about this mask, just try it!
After my skin is clean and dry, I spread a dollop of Leahlani’s Champagne Serum on my face and neck. This serum enhances the skin’s elasticity, combats redness, contains anti-inflammatory properties, and is really moisturizing without being too oily. It kinda does it all.
Pro tip: you can also use the serum as a primer before applying makeup for a more dewy look (yes, please)
Because I’ve been swimming more frequently, the salt-water pool has made my skin pretty dry. After applying the champagne serum, I wait a couple of minutes and add a layer of the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I have been using this lotion for a while, and I don’t intend to stop anytime soon, it’s the perfect combination of lightweight and hydrating.
Once my face is pampered, I use the Rodan + Fields Lash Boost serum. I only recently started using this, so I can’t speak on the results, but the application is easy and painless. If my lashes only get a tiny bit longer and thicker, it’s worth the extra 60 seconds that it takes every night.
When I’m winding down, I put in my Smile Brilliant whitening trays. You can leave these in anywhere between 45 minutes and three hours, so I usually keep them in while I watch my TV shows, blog or read right before bed.
And the rest I chalk up as beauty sleep.
