Getting Back On Track After The Holidays

Looking back at my resolutions post, I realize I’ve already failed at a handful of the resolutions I proclaimed to be “actually attainable.” I think I have only made my bed twice this year and I most certainly have not made an effort to drink more water. Way to practice what I preach, right?

However, that’s not to say that I’m off to a terrible start. We’re a month in to the new year and I am consistently working out at least four days a week, which is more than I can say about the latter portion of 2016. And I have a new found interest in the ingredients of the foods that I am eating. Instead of staying away from carbs and sugar, I am trying to stay away from foods with ingredients that I can’t pronounce. Gimme those au natural goods.

I’m not going to lie, I’ve been a little obsessive with the grocery shopping as of late. But, it’s been fun educating myself on which ingredients I should and shouldn’t be putting in my body. My rule of thumb is as follows— if you can’t pronounce it, don’t buy it. Except quinoa and acai, you should most definitely eat those.

So in an effort to consume natural, real ingredients, I teamed up with Suja to kick start a healthier 2017. I have always loved a good cold-pressed juice because it’s a quick way to get vital nutrients, and they’re so dang refreshing.

Suja sent me 18 different, organic juices— enough for a full 3-day cleanse. Liquid based cleanses have always been a struggle for me because I run a lot, which makes me pretty hungry throughout the day. So instead I opted to drink the Suja juices as a meal replacement, while still eating two hearty, healthy meals each day. Typically, I drink the juice in lieu of breakfast, unless I am on-the-go, in which case it becomes an easy lunch.

This isn’t the part where I tell you I’ve miraculously lost 10 pounds. In fact, I didn’t start this journey to shed weight, because let’s be real, crash diets and cleanses aren’t long term solutions. I started drinking Suja because I wanted to feel better and more energized throughout the day. So far, it has worked for me, but listen to your body.

At the very least, drinking the juices has made me more conscious about what I am consuming the remainder of the day. So if you’re looking for an easy way to get back on track, it’s the juice.
