Chase Waves, Not Pokemon

FILED IN: Fashion, Lifestyle

I’m a total sucker for quaint little beach towns. You know the kind where you can do it all— surf, shop or throw back some cold coronas at a tiny, sandy bar? Yeah, those towns make my heart real happy.

My perfect day starts with a big breakfast burrito and warm coffee. I’m wearing my favorite sporty-chic bikini from Tavik covered up by a cozy, slightly oversized sweatshirt, overlooking the ocean while I inhale my breakfast of champions. It’s followed by a mini-surf session, which mostly consists of me paddling around for two hours, chasing waves and searching for sea critters (because let’s be real, I only catch every 1 in 10 waves). After I get tired (or bored, whichever comes first), I head back to the dry sand and bask in the sun like a lazy, obese sea lion (sadly, I’m better at this than I am at surfing).

By this time it’s probably noon, which means it’s beer o’clock (insert heart eye emoji here). If you’re lucky, you can throw a cover-up over your ‘kini, grab your cellphone and walk right up to a bar stool from the sand, surfboard in tow.

Extra points if it’s a Mexican restaurant and bar. I honestly don’t think there is anything better than a basket of chips and salsa, a steamy plate of nachos and a cold brew after a few hours in the salty water. Seriously, I’m drooling just thinking about it. Pure bliss.

So, yeah, that’s my perfect day— chasing waves, not pokemon.

A breakfast burrito, surf, sand, a killer ‘kini that makes me feel like a professional surfer babe, nachos, beer and the cutest phone case in all the land from the Tavik apres beach collection— you know, because I’ll have 6 thousand insta-worthy photos to filter while I’m sitting at the bar.
