Memorial Day Weekend Checklist

FILED IN: Fashion, Lifestyle

If you’re anything like me, packing is a heinous chore. I have a habit of trying on every single outfit before folding it and adding it to my suitcase, which makes packing a very tedious task. Thankfully, I am a seasoned weekender. We’re constantly taking road trips to the mountains, desert and beach, where my family owns vacation homes, so I have mastered the weekend getaway.

I am a firm believer that all holidays honoring America should be spent by the water with a cold drink in hand, and Memorial Day Weekend is no exception. As the unofficial start to summer, we’re celebrating accordingly and loading up for a long weekend on the coast. Here’s what I’m packing (don’t forget the coronas and lime);

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

  1. A red, white or blue swimsuit – or all of the above, because ‘Merica
  2. A wide-brimmed hat – hats are my most favorite accessory ever, mainly because my hair can be 50 kinds of crazy and I still look semi-cute
  3. Sunscreen – or better yet, tanning oil with a solid SPF
  4. Cut-offs + a kimono – throw this killer combo over your swimsuit and you’ve got yourself an easy beach to bar look for a fun day-buzz
  5. Pool floaties – is there anything better than floating away on a massive swan and taking a sunny siesta? (the answer is no)
  6. A bluetooth speaker – rock the 3-day weekend (literally)
  7. Workout clothes – sweat it out before you wiggle into a tiny ‘kini (you won’t regret this)
  8. Mirrored sunnies – I am a total sucker for colored, mirrored lenses
  9. A beach towel – whether you’re on the sand, grass or pool deck, an over-sized towel will come in handy
  10. Flash tattoos – the accessory gods were truly shining down when flash tats were invented, these gems last 72 hours and can withstand nearly any activity
  11. A baggy sweater – you know, for roasting marshmallows, watching the sunset and such (pants optional)
  12. Neutral gladiators – if you’re trying to pack light, one staple pair of gladiator sandals can be worn with just about any outfit (trust me)
  13. A bottle opener – throw this in your cooler incase you get stranded on a boat or island, or something
  14. A sundress – dresses are the easiest to pack, and make for the best day-to-night outfits
  15. GoPro – we never leave for a weekend without our GoPro, because 3-day weekends are totally worth documenting

What are your 3-day weekend essentials?
