Weekends are for decompressing. You know– throwing your gluten-free, sugar-free, carb-free diet out the window, brunching so hard that you forget all about your monstrous to-do list, and perfecting the role of couch-potato while indulging in a 10-hour Netflix marathon (because what’s a weekend without the cast of Grey’s Anatomy?). Sound all too familiar?
They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content– and as much as I love downing bottomless mimosas and wandering the local Farmers’ Market, sometimes you just need to unplug and sweat. After a 40-hour work week trapped inside of an office, I can’t think of a more rewarding Sunday funday than a 4-mile hike with the ocean in the background, limited cell-phone reception, and a celebratory veggie-burrito and beer at the finish line.
Every once in a while, it’s important take the path less traveled. Turn off the technology, throw your hair in a top-knot, pour your coffee to-go, get outside, breathe it in, sweat it out and hit the refresh button. There’s no wi-fi in the forest, but you’ll find a better connection (I promise).
On the days when you’re dying to say, “namast’ay in bed,” take a hike instead.
